Health

Hope Restoration Network (HRN) is working in alliance with other organizations and government agencies to expand and improve health care delivery in less privileged communities, especially young people.

HRN focuses on Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights (STI’s, HIV & AIDS, Abortion and Family Planning), Personal Hygiene (Menstrual Health) and Malaria through awareness creation, education and service delivery in less privileged communities.

Young people face a number of obstacles to obtaining information, education and services especially in rural and less privileged communities. These barriers pivots around issues of availability and accessibility as well as quality of education provided.

Culture, myth and some misconceptions about family planning, the use of contraceptives, teenage pregnancy, abortion, HIV and menstruation makes it difficult for most young people especially in rural and less privileged communities to have access to adequate information and services.

Our partner agencies and organizations are PPAG, UNFPA, Ghana Health Service, and Ghana Education Service.

Research shows that only minority of sexually active adolescent girls/women who have a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) seek medical attention in a professional healthcare facility. Also, according to this study, adolescents unlike older/mature women also tend to take longer to recognize their pregnancies and are more likely to have unsafe abortions. Pregnancy and childbirth continue to be a leading cause of death for adolescent girls aged 15-19—the study suggests.

Ghana Health Service

working in alliance

To address this, Hope Restoration Network (HRN) is working in alliance with other organizations like Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), and government agencies like Ghana Health Service (GHS) to improve and expand sexual health education that responds to the needs of the less privileged communities, especially young persons.
We work to ensure young persons can have access to SRHR information, education and services via our numerous programmes, including SRHR Community Outreach Programme at Anakum in the Western Region of Ghana. We also work to ensure community members, including opinion leaders, and parents are well informed about the usefulness of health services to children, youth, all and sundry, whiles we engage to support the provision of same. HRN listens and works with adolescents to tailor youth-friendly health education to the local context, based on a careful trend and situational analyses on the subject matter.
